Transportation Options

1. Private Vehicle (Car/Motorcycle) – Most Recommended

Route: Use the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road (Tol Paspro) to save time.
Navigation: From Surabaya, head toward Probolinggo and then Situbondo. From Situbondo, turn toward Bondowoso city and follow signs for Kawah Ijen or Desa Jampit/Sempol.
Road Conditions: Expect steep, winding mountain roads. Ensure your vehicle’s brakes and engine are in excellent condition.

2. Shuttle/Travel Services

Door-to-Door: Several agencies offer direct travel services from Surabaya to Bondowoso with home pickup.
Tour Packages: You can join "Open Trip" packages from Surabaya that usually combine Kawah Wurung with a visit to Kawah Ijen. These often include transportation, entrance fees, and a guide.

3. Public Transportation (Train or Bus)

Train: Take a train from Surabaya Gubeng or Pasar Turi station to Banyuwangi Kota (BWI) or Ketapang (KTG) station.
Bus: Board a bus at Purabaya (Bungurasih) Terminal heading to Bondowoso or Banyuwangi.
Last Mile: From the train station or bus terminal, you must rent a car/motorcycle or hire a local motorcycle taxi (ojek) to reach Kawah Wurung, as it is located about 30–60 minutes from the main Ijen area.
